Le Suquet

Walk on the cobblestones of the most charming district of Cannes!

Le Suquet is the oldest district of Cannes. Filled with charm, it is located on a hill, west of the bay, on the hill overlooking the Old Port.

Le Suquet is at the origin of the city of Cannes since it was the strategic position of the latter (giving a perfect view of the land and the bay) that pushed Ligurian troops to settle there.

Le Suquet is made up of numerous medieval alleys, most of which are sloping and winding around the citadel, leading to the various small shops in Cannes.

During your stroll in this emblematic district, you will have to go and see some of the must-sees. Indeed, we strongly recommend you to see the Tour du Suquet (which culminates at 22 meters), which offers a superb view of Cannes and the hinterland to the north. The latter, being at the top of the hill, offers a panoramic view of the sea, the city and the hinterland.

We also recommend the very pretty Saint-Anne chapel (dating from the 11th and 12th centuries, then rebuilt in the 17th century). It houses the collection of world musical instruments of the Musée de la Castre (museum labeled “Musée de France”).

You should also visit the church of Notre-Dame-d’Espérance, a Catholic parish church, dating from the 16th century. The three monuments we have just mentioned are all three classified as historical monuments.

In short, as you will have understood, walking around Le Suquet is the ideal activity for those many sunny Sundays that Cannes knows. A cultural as well as sporting activity, given the maze of medieval streets and the cultural wealth of this emblematic district of Cannes. In your shoes!
